Look Beyond

I see what lies behind your wrinkles
smiles forgotten
promises broken
I hear the voice in your heart
those screams and cries of agony
that wretched tragedy
I know your silence speaks of words unspoken
that one aching tear hides a soul forsaken

Unless I walk in your shoes
I would never understand
your despair, your misery
That battle
you are fighting
with all your mettle
The faint whistle gets deeper
I got to catch this train
I could not hug you
But I feel your pain

My soul is an enthralling mystery, delicately concocted with some chaos and a little glee.

I sat in the Doctors surgery today and saw the pain of getting old in a little old lady who couldn’t be spared five minutes to be slotted in to see the Doctor. What nobody noticed was the struggle she had made to walk up the ramp assisted by the taxi driver who’d bought her to the surgery, then the bewilderment on her face as she dropped her appointment card and couldn’t pick it up (I picked it up for her) and the gratitude on her face to have just that little bit of help… The struggle daily of growing old, becoming lost and a lack of humanity is captured beautifully in this poem Look Beyond from Little Mermaid blog site…

    1. Hi Wendy, your kind and supportive gesture towards the old lady shows that you have a beautiful heart. They often say, ‘Blessed is the society that has oldies.’ I wish more people understood this..

Thanks for the reblog. Love and light to you X

      1. thats great…
Is it possible for you to communicate on gmail ?
as we can inform you or if require anything to ask so we can ask.
Can we use different photo for the writing stuff ?

        1. Hi there, unfortunately I don’t check my email box often. So it would be futile to communicate via emails. Feel free to address any query you might have here itself. And yes, you may change the picture if you want.

  2. It happens many times when we want to converse with someone – a stranger- but could not due to lack of time and unwanted situations. There is a void in the eyes of people, who are left dejected. Touchy poem.

  3. Very nice post. I simply stumbled upon your blog and wished to say that I have really loved surfing around your weblog posts. After all I’ll be subscribing in your feed and I hope you write again soon!|

    1. Hi Nieves, I’m sorry for the late reply. Glad to meet you and thanks for the follow. I have been away for the past months because I was really taken up. I’m back now. We’ll get to see each other often. Take care. X

  5. Happy September all,
I was going to post a picture of a salsa concoction of mine I prepared for the party – but I couldn’t find an image upload button on the comment box 😦 Maybe next month? Have a wonderful month all the same

  6. That’s inspiring writing, thinking about someone else from their point of view. Their silent pain. But is he in pain just becasue of passing time?

    1. Hello Simon, how are you doing?

It seems to me that this man has faced a lot of hardship in his life. The anguish in his eyes and the hopelessness on his face are telling.

What are your thoughts on this?

      1. Hi mermaid, I’m ok. You know… Same old. What about you?

I think I see a man who’s lived a hard life, seem a lot of things. But I think he sees beyond hopelessness. He has lived through youthful excess and the hard middle days to get where he is.
He’s kind of at peace because he knows that the world can’t take anything from him now that will make him bitter. His life a experience and wisdom are his treasures.

        That’s just my thoughts… 🙂

  7. Good expression. ” You often come to me , like a fresh experience to the museum. I am not your future. But you can thrive on my flashbacks…..”
