Stay Humane

“Feed a hungry mouth. Clothe a miserable body. Educate a poor being. Reach out to a depressed soul. Rescue an animal. Help as much as you can. Touch as many hearts as you go. Selflessly. Without expectations. The one and only approach for a human to live with stalwart dignity is by staying humane.”

  1. One of my recent post talks along this line!
You capture the essence of being Human in very short words !
    Good Job there.

    1. Thanks Bhanu!

It is distressing to see that today we have more humans but less humanity. I just try to spread some positive vibes out there through my writings.

      1. Sure. It is distressing, but let’s not feel sad. Let’s buckle up and do whatever least we can do, may be by poems, by awareness, by doing small activities or by standing for what we believe 🙂

  2. Almighty! Grant ease to uneasy hearts of those facing difficulties. Let them endure with beautiful patience & make them among the righteous.

      1. I will try making my part for that… the more people I help being humans, the more I feel satisfied… it’s my work and I’m happy people appreciate the concept. 😉

  3. hey… can I ask something what theme do you use little Mermaid ? I love it..so minimal…

    1. I’m not saying there will be no misery at all, otherwise Earth would be called ‘Paradise’. This is an altogether utopian vision for us. What I imply in this post is that by individually doing the little bit of good within our realm of possibility, we can at least abate the suffering of our fellow brothers and sisters. This is achievable.

Thanks for your contribution, Ashik. Much appreciated.🙂

    1. Everything is topsy-turvy today. People have an active virtual life but a dormant social life. Is this ‘living’? Is this ‘being real’? We are losing touch with our nears and dears. We are not being human in the true essence of the word, and this is definitely not something we should be proud of.

I’m eager to read your post. Catch you soon X

  4. Hello. What a beautiful and humane post. Wouldn’t our world be better if more people would do for others instead of being selfish? Take care now.

  5. Small Simple Humane Sentences. And So Right !!
The sad part is that only 1% of us, follow this lifestyle.
As it is said, “It is Better to be Kind, than Right”.

  6. Yes! Give yourself to others! I’ve just barely started to try to devote my free time to service but I have been so enriched by it. One of the things I’ve noticed is that people I work with are hungry for your time and concern, even more so than they are hungry for monetary support…

    1. This is human nature and in return, by giving people your precious time, undivided attention and wonted kindness, you are actually doing the greatest service to humanity.

Way to go! Have an awesome week ahead! :))

  7. Sometimes I see signs that make me think people are losing sight of ‘humanity’ and then I read a post like this which brings me hope again! x

    1. Should we blame our increasing, almost illimitable dependence on pervasive technology for this dismal state of things? Alas, I can already discern a gradual dehumanisation of the world.

Thanks for your input, dear Wendy. 🙂

      1. Sadly I think you could be right and I say sadly because it’s impossible to turn back the clock.. Thankfully nature has a way of eventually showing it can’t be beaten and hopefully there will be a shift.. There is still a lot of good and beauty in the world as well thank goodness but I do worry for the future generation.. and then I think of my mum who’s philosophy was ‘whats the use of worrying’ .. xx

  8. English is such a restricted language when it comes to “love”. That’s it, in modern usage “Love.” Ancient Greek had four words for it and three dominated: agápe, éros and philia. I see your beautiful words as about agápe, the love of God expressed by humans to other humans. We lost the true meaning of this long ago. We renamed it charity decades ago as in “faith, hope, and charity”, but now charity is mostly seen as a top-down kindness, where the “tops” are not at all in touch with the “downs”.

I hope your words strike us all as a call to act and not just to ponder.

Looking forward to your next post, Rich

    1. Hi Rich! It’s been a long time. I have missed you in the blogosphere. How are you doing? X

To fortify what you explicitly said, there’s a biblical injunction which goes something like: “But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth.” This is food for thought, especially for those who do charity works for adulation only to give themselves airs.

Sending love and positivity all your way! Catch you later! 🙂

      1. Hi Little Mermaid! I’m doing really well, and you? The truth is I don’t post regularly, but I am going to try to do it more often.

I really appreciate the biblical quote; it is a very powerful and beautiful way to illustrate my point. I think of it as, “Do not let your ego know what your heart is doing.”

I send love and admiration your way. Catch you soon! Rich

      1. Hey if you have little bit of extra time then check out my blog, I have started a “One Word Series” where I write about one word and published it on every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month👍

  9. Only love for each other as for themselves what makes us human beings and in this period so dark it is love that is missing rooted hatred and violence. Posts that warms the heart, thank you!

  10. Urvashi, The Little Mermaid!

“OLD AGE- A BURDEN OR BOON,” is the topic we are dealing with right now… I always make it a point to touch people in anyway we can. Unless we do that we loose the purpose for which we are created and living on this earth. God created us to worship Him through everything possible… One of them is taking care of fellow human being…

Thanks for initiating thought provoking prompts here in your blog which will definitely ignite a spark to the dry woods of people’s hearts.

    Regards, CP

  11. Kindness is a virtue.Let’s make a difference to each day for us and those we come into contact with.I really like this post…Stay Humane…we could all learn from reading this.
    Max 👍👍

  12. I really love your words of inspiration.. Sounds like something from a Bob Marley song.. Just imagine living in a world were there is no more war, where everyone could love and show each other respect. What a wonderful world it will be. A world of love and peace. But we can only do it if only we all agree that it’s your world and mine..

  13. This is so nice, and I agree with you that people could sometimes be more selfless.. not all the time, obviously, because that is impossible.. but just sometimes. I think it’d make the world a generally nicer place to live. Thanks for checking out my blog 🙂

  14. Thank you for this. It’s so easy for me to stay in my cocoon, surrounded by those who have enough and to forget the real need. Beautiful words I will attempt to put into action!

  15. Such lovely thoughts! Thank you for sharing. You are spreading your message and it is making a difference. I feel inspired to do the same. Blessings & hugs on this Monday morning.

  16. Salient words after my own heart.

In our days of virtual conversations and virtual communities it seems being authentic – humane – as you stated is quite lacking. Being humane is at our core, its in our roots too. Hope others heed this message.

  17. Your site is amazing! I just love wandering by and seeing what you are up to and doing; this is obviously a quote, albeit, is it your own or did you find it? Nonetheless. it is lovely and very inspiring. Thank you!

    1. Hi Jon, thank you very much for the positive feedback on my site. It is encouraging. This blog reflects my beliefs and perception towards life; more so these are my own words.

You are most welcome to join in. An expeditious glance at your posts tells me you’ve got a fascinating blog yourself. I will make sure to come back often.

Please keep in touch. See you. 🙂

  18. I am putting out a shirt write up as my first Sunday series, it touches the hem of life to our souls and bring down barriers. Little mermaid, your words are like rainbows.

  19. We are healthy only to the extent that our ideas are humane.
    -Kurt Vonnegut

Nice post. Short. To the point.

  20. Your words inspire. They are like a preface to optimism and how it feels to evoke hope through words. I love it

  21. I love this. This world would transform in so many positive ways if we gave more of ourselves and what we have for the healing of others and the world. Thank you for sharing. Thank you for the follow as well, peace and love to you.

  22. I like this, very inspiring and uplifting !
It’s also good to know, the more positive energy that you give out, the more abundance manifests in your life.
    Dave 🙂

  23. Good thinking. Keep thinking the way you thinking and change for nobody coz then you would be you coz before we become somebody we have to be ourselves without compromising.

    Great work. Keep it up

  24. Compassion is the language of God…Thanks for the reminder Little Mermaid!!
“But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. “All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left. “Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. ‘For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? ‘And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? ‘When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ “The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’ ”
    Matthew 25:31-40

      1. Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Been out of town. I use a lot of metaphors when I talk, It is a Louisiana thing. I am working on that. I forget that 99% of people do not have a clue What I am talking about most of the time. I murdered way to many brain cells back in the day! I will start using foot notes. Thanks for replying. Most of the ones I get tend to be a bit nasty. Nice to get one that has a smile attached to it.

  25. Dear friend,

Thanks for sharing your deep words about humanity. Sometimes things can be very easy and simple but we tend to make them complicated and rather take things personally. So it is our ego which has problems in sharing and giving, which wants to have advantage, being better than others, which is simply selfish and oriented only towards oneself. But vise versa there is a way that to keep distance from our own ego – it is the way of helping other people, needy people, lonesome people and many more facets of people. This selfless help in the joy in itself, the thank in itself (which is even not expected)

Allow me to share some words about humanity with you in this connection:

Are we not all human beings?

We cry, when we are sad or happy
We laugh, when we are joyful
    We feel, when others suffer
We love, when our heart vibrates

    Therefore: Let us overcome boundaries:
Nation, colour, language, fear, being better
    Idelogies, names, cultures

    Are we not one?
Are we not – a human being?
So let us refocus: on our humanity

Don’t we all dream the same dream
    – to treat us humanely one another?
    – to be human for one another?

Let us make this dream come true…
