Spirituality

It’s 2016. I have decided that I’m gonna start to speak my mind unapologetically by writing my absurdly wild thoughts within quotation marks and tag them as ‘The Little Mermaid’ to make them sound more credible so that people believe every shit that I rave about. Let’s just do it sassy and a wee bit smart-assy.

“If people actually made love to the mind and soul with the same flaming passion as they made to the physical body, we would have long had an illuminated generation of spiritually, morally and intellectually elevated species.”

-The Little Mermaid, MMXVI

Author: The Little Mermaid

My soul is an enthralling mystery, delicately concocted with some chaos and a little glee.

    1. Likewise! Actually I have been thinking of blogging since a couple of years but kept putting it off for some weird reasons. Anyway, I am glad to connect with you here and I look forward to this enriching journey.

          1. Perhaps, I have a “zero cares given” policy when it comes to expressing myself. As should everyone, I kept myself quiet for too long. I regret it, not writing, not expressing myself and chasing a dream with a passion. I was a tragic fool.

  1. I like your idea, it is good for testing general psychology of the crowd out there reading our stuff.

However I want to point out that it is never about quotes or the name at the bottom, it is always the words within the quotes that make it meaningful.

I like your quote and would have appreciated it more if you just wrote your name under it..

Somehow your poems are naked, I can touch your words.. Its good.

  2. Hi Little Mermaid!
A very interesting and thought-provoking approach this is. Absolutely loved your idea of giving more credibility to your words even though they speak of their awesomeness themselves 🙂
On a lighter note, the mind and soul are going to be ‘fucked’ with this 😉
Glad to meet you here. 🙂

  3. Everything takes a time Mermaid…. Some Souls are very new, some lost, some trying, some willing….. But this generation of ours and the vibes in the Universe is calling and many are taking steps….. Once some of them are Awakened they will help nearby ones too, to find a path and then choices matter…… But one thing is for sure the vibes are at high frequencies and they will meet whoever is receptive

    1. You are absolutely right Pawan. Today, the world is teeming with people who are in an eternal quest for enlightenment and we find them at the different stages of spiritual development. The kind of energy a person gives off in the astral plane is what he attracts on the physical plane.

Thank you for the absorbing conversation. You’re special. Keep in touch. :))

  4. Even the slightest possibility of eliminating the past assassinations, Orlando, Paris, San Bernardino and…, if we as a society had followed your suggested priorities should wake a few people up, don’t you think?
There’s another generation right behind all of us and they can only benefit from your values, thoughts and beliefs. You owned it with conviction.
    Thank you –

    1. Aw you are being too kind with your words. Thanks for the appreciation.

Talking of the abysmally fiendish assassinations which you’ve mentioned, I’d like to point out that terrorists are criminals, not holy warriors. Therefore, I am not in a position to comment whether counter-attacking them with a peaceful approach would be a more viable solution or not.

However, if we care for the next generation as you say, we must do something for them right now. I believe inculcating meditative practices in children at elementary level will ensure that they grow up to be more loving and compassionate beings. Let’s take the example of a tall building. If the foundation itself is weak because of poor inputs, it is bound to collapse someday, no matter how towering or beautiful it is. The same applies to a human being. The bulk of work pertaining to character formation starts when he is young, curious and highly receptive.

It was great interacting with you. See you around!

  5. Your quote has captured me! How beautiful a way you see things in life. And I would like to add that I agree with you wholeheartedly! May I reblog? XO!

  6. This is your place so you should feel free to express yourself as you wish. If someone doesn’t like like it they can not read it and not visit. No one is forcing them to visit your blog.
    Now, as for making love?
I would settle for the physical side right now since that isn’t happening much the non physical side. Lol. 😉
    Good post.

  7. oh making love begins and ends in one’s mind. Anything else is just sex. Flaming passion in each other’s mind and heart creates a bond not easily broken, when pleasing the other is more important than pleasing one’s self. ~ Speak your mind all you want Little Mermaid! I imagine you have a lot of interesting things to say.

    1. I agree with you. The fulfillment of carnal desires provides only temporary satisfaction. But in love-making, there is the mutual consciousness of unbounded unity and the feeling of completeness that arises with the activity; thus satisfying the body, mind and soul as well.

Aw thank you for your gracious encouragement. I hope your two little lovelies are doing great. See you X

      1. ..yes as two entangled become one entity, working in orchestration, that not time nor distance nor climax can separate. Fulfilling and completing mind body and soul. 🙂

  8. The way you started with that attitude I remembered one song which came into my mind right away: “Urvashi Urvashi Take It Easy Policy…”

Apart from the joke… I would say unless we have that yearning to safeguard our soul for eternity we are doomed. Your quote can be interpreted “if you really wanna love your whole self… MIND, BODY & SOUL then it’s worth living a life. Humankind lost its glory because they only knew the desires of their body and a bit of their minds… they have lost their SOUL in a dense jungle.

    Thanks for sharing it.

    Regards, CP

  9. I love how honest and open you are in your writing. Very well written and very true words. Please keep speaking your mind!

  10. And, that’s a cool way to do it. Give no fucks and chills about anything. It’s beautiful and real to be unapologetic and raw. And, real love has always been between minds and souls. It’s only now that meanings have been distorted and stretched to its threshold according to per convenience.
And, we can definitely bring it back on track simply because We Can. Awakening is difficult to process but not impossible. I wish you the best in whatever you wish for. ❤

  11. Hey Sirenita (Spanish for Little Mermaid, I hope it’s okay). Your words have me doing some personal reflection again. I was raised here in the U.S. and we were taught as children to believe that sex was dirty. Maybe it wasn’t said exactly that way, but whenever someone talked about “dirty movies”, “dirty jokes”, and “dirty pictures” they had just one thing in common: sex. We were told not to do it under any circumstances. Marriage is supposed to change all that, but you can’t erase years of conditioning overnight with a ring and a prayer. As some wise person said, “You can’t unring a bell.”

In our human spirituality we are taught that we come from God. We are told in Holy Words to go and multiply. And yet, here, because of all the taboo talk about sex in our upbringing, it is hard for us to open our spirituality to the act itself.

    Hugs to you, Rich

    1. Hi Rich, how’s it going? Sirenita is perfect as a pet name. 🙂

Your comment is highly thought-provoking. Even I find it very difficult to understand why sex is regarded as a taboo subject when it is one of the most natural biological needs for us, humans. I believe the more we refrain from addressing the topic of sex in a responsible manner, the sicker and more debauched our society will be. That’s it!

Thanks for your contribution. Have a great day ahead, my awesome baldy buddy!

Sending positivity all your way XO

      1. Hi Sirenita, I share your desire for a more responsible treatment of sex in all families and all societies. Its psychological, emotional and spiritual components need to be added to the physical, by-the-numbers teachings given in so many societies and settings today.

Something like this will never happen overnight, especially given the major religions’ teaching about sex and what it should be limited to. More and more adults have stopped worshiping their God, but still retain the moral tenets of these religions.

There can’t be a fire without an initial spark, and that’s something your post provides.

Your awesome baldy buddy thinks you’re awesome!

        1. Ah RELIGION? Please Rich, let’s not talk about this screwed up, myopic and doctrinaire system whose unique mission is to feed the feeble-minded bigots with non-progressive, orthodox beliefs. Like seriously, why should I listen and follow the prejudiced blather of some priest of a particular religion when I have a free mind capable to discern what’s right or wrong for my life. I’m not here to pamper the egos of these so-called religious leaders by simply taking their bullshit at face value. I’m here to walk my own journey and discover the truth. Honestly, I don’t expect religion to view sex as being normal and sacred, let alone seek to illuminate us on this matter. Religion treats those self-proclaimed ‘men of God’ as if they are born immaculate and all-knowing, magically from the unadulterated fusion of the anther and the stigma of a rose when they are nothing but a product of SEX.

I’d say it is high time people become less religious and more spiritual.

Have a lovely week mate X

  12. Maybe… As with bodies, not all minds and souls incite passion in any particular person. Nor are all particularly attractive. Preferences vary, of course.

Very brave. And very clever. If “The Mermaid Speaks,” gives you enough distance, or cover, to blast away, more power to you.

    I’m stuck at not even started, myself. Though you have me thinking a little anti-boxward, now. ;o}

    1. They say beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Given that the interpretation of ‘a beautiful mind’ varies from one person to another, every soul is beautiful, in the end.

I’m glad you enjoy my posts. Thank you 🙂

  13. Since the “soul”, is the mind, emotion and will of the person and the mind sits on the throne of the soul, where does that place the spirit in the order of man? And how would stimulating the soul-plane make one more spiritual considering it is the soul that must be pulled into subjection by the spirit to perfectly align man?

  14. Having taken a teeny trawl through your site I would like to say you have every cause and every right to # your words. Copyright them actually …. its great to see real truth and wisdom skilfully expressed and executed and I am very pleased to ‘meet’ you Little Mermaid 😊

  15. So true🌹— I celebrate your statements and here is to sharing our unique minds, through our words ( written or spoken)… sending much love. Aquileana 🙂

    1. Oh really? Could you please quote the invincible Albert Einstein here? I’m impatient to know what he broached. Unfortunately, Google hasn’t been of much help to me.

      Thank you in anticipation, Ogden.🙂

  16. Oh girl…!! We have one thing in common…spunk..😉that concept of making love with mind and soul is fascinating as is…if we can propagate it…an intellectually elevated generation can b possibly produced…😃😃

  17. Reblogged this on Sparkle and commented:
Truly one of thee most amazing quotes I have ever read!
“If people actually made love to the mind and soul with the same flaming passion as they made to the physical body, we would have long had an illuminated generation of spiritually, morally and intellectually elevated species.”

      1. I just started reading your blogs. The first one on spirituality is amazing, I love your quote. I hope you don’t mind me stealing your ideas for meditative, inspirational, and creative purposes. I am new to writing blogs and web pages… I want to use your site as a guide. We are very like-minded!

        1. Hi there, thank you very much for loving my work. I’m so glad to know that my ideas serve as a source of inspiration for you. There is a difference between stealing someone’s labour, called plagiarism which is a crime and getting inspired by others, which is exactly what creative minds seek. I’m sure you fall in the latter category. 🙂

Wish you all the best and keep in touch!

  18. We clog out beauty in our thinking with such junk from sources that drag us down. Your quote is so amazing, as you are so amazing, and a beautiful person, with a beautiful mind!!

    1. You always have a non-exhaustive list of nice words for me, Migueltio. Thanking you for your gracious good wishes will never be enough.

Sending light and positivity to you and yours. Hugs X

        1. Yes, spirituality teaches us to harmonize the mind, the spirit and the heart by creating our own journey to spiritual awakenedness. It teaches us that the Great which we are seeking outside is nowhere but within us. And religion? It just fucks things up. This convoluted theology is based on fear, dependency and misleading dogmatic segregation.

I wish more people believed in their own spiritual power; for I surmise, this is how it was always supposed to be. 🙂

  19. Hello Little Mermaid, my name is Gregory Thomas. I’m a writer and poet, and post my work on my blog at “Cascadialegends.wordpress.com” I just wanted to thank you for liking my blog, and following me. If you wish to tell me a little bit about what exactly your website is about, feel free to let me know, I’ll be sure to help you as well with what I am able, let’s keep in touch. 🙂

    -your friend,

    Gregory Thomas

    1. Hi Gregory, it’s nice meeting you in the blogosphere. If you skimmed through some of my posts, you’d find that I don’t write on a specialised topic as such. I take different themes, depending on my mood, observation and feelings.

I’ll check your blog too. See you around. 🙂

  20. Hello. Your point is very clear about spirituality. I don’t send out replies as often as I should. Nevertheless, thank you very much.

  21. Generation of spiritually, morally and intellectually elevated species !!
High Hopes Baby !! Today, everyone is only interested in Fu@#$@#g. They even go insane and want 1 night stands. Humans will have to be reborn in another planet to love their minds and be spiritually intelligent.

    1. I agree with you Cattie. It’s the ’50 Shades of Grey’ era afterall; where self-control and mindfulness are lost traits in humans. Most people nowadays willfully let themselves be dragged into the cavern of gullibility. The modern man believes that he is too ‘smart’ to follow religion and bend the knee before God. This is when spirituality has a crucial role to play. Spirituality allows the man to find the answers to the questions himself. By being spiritual, he experiences divinity through compassion, love, peace and awareness. I figure that only spirituality can save the world.

      Thanks for your input.:))

  22. Reblogged this on Blogstriss and commented:
This is so true, but the world and everything around it is moving so fast who has the time out of their busy schedules to care what’s in the hearts and minds and even the souls of another. Oh yeah and why is everybody rushing anyway?
This is why it is the way it is because nobody knows who anybody really is.

      1. Thanks, sweetie. He’s my great-nephew. His name is Grant and he’s 5 years old now. Time sure has a way of flying by. I’ll pass on the big kiss. And here’s a big hug for you X

  23. I have a Spiritual ASMR channel on You Tube called ‘Pipilika – Touches of Grace’ which aims to help raise consciousness and bring healing. I too would love to use this amazing quote – it is so appropriate to our time! Could I ask your permission to do so, giving clear reference to your blog in the video and video description? It’s always nice to share original fresh content… x

    1. Hi there, I found your channel on YouTube. It’s interesting but why is the sound of the videos low? I’m sorry but it’s practically inaudible to us, viewers. Please look into the matter.

Yeah, you can share the quote, tagging it as ‘The Little Mermaid’. Thank you for the appreciation. All the best for your Pipilika project.:)

      1. That’s great, thank you. Yes, the genre is ASMR, which typically features soft speaking, and sometimes whispered content, usually listened to via headphones. It can achieve an intimacy and sleep-inducing effect as the soft sounds trigger ‘tingles’ and deep relaxation for some people. Thank you for your kind words 🙂

  24. Truly ardent desiring at physical level carries over to the mental plane, further ascending to ratified realms of the spirit. That is how relationships are made lasting through life and beyond. That is how love expands to embrace all of life. Your quote, Mermaid, is a beautiful expression of this profound truth. My warm wishes your way…

  25. If only indeed. To truly appreciate a beautiful mind and soul, one has to unlearn what they perceive to be the traditional roles of the senses. When you connect with a spirit all is not what it seems, yet it’s exactly how it is… you can feel their sound echo through yours, you can taste their thoughts, you can touch their words….it can be an experience of totality.

  26. That’s a good quote. We could, actually, achieve that potential, just if we’d all wanted too. It’s just amazing to think what opportunities could await us as mankind if we’d go on that path.

    1. I think humans have the uncanny ability to move boulders if they want to. It’s all in the mind. We no longer tap our full potential like our ancestors did hundreds and thousands years ago. Sad!

      1. Wo lost, something, but we also gained some other things. We never lived so safely and comfortably as we live today. I wouldn’t change that for a life in any time before today! But we also should, and could, regain what we’ve lost. We can open ourselves to the inner knowledge we have and connect with our roots. In fact, we are doing it as we speak. 🙂

        1. Your comment rings true. May I add, our lifestyle is so safe and comfortable today that it somehow occludes our power of cogitation. Perhaps spirituality can help us connect back with our own being.

It was nice to exchange views with you. Have a blessed Sunday! 🙂

  27. Never truer than this! This is Awesome and I agree totally with you. The rate of spiritual depravity is rather not worth mentioning – it has become so bad

    1. Hi, this post touches upon the different aspects of humanity in a most unique way. It’s incredibly informational. I’ll have to re-read it to digest the wealth of knowledge you have shared. Excellent!

  28. Will love if you will show some love and support for your fellow blogger by following back:* …Nice blog

  29. True to that! And a good example of the way people should learn each other.. Another one might be ? Why would one want to hide truth under illusion to another? Only to find out later,” that the very one of which they deceived, they had fallen in love with. But that very one they had fallen in love with? Had disappeared with their friend”Illusion” that

  30. Sassy and true, very witty and intelligent.
I wrote something sort of like, but not no where near as good.. (why would one want to deceive another by means of hiding truth under illusion? As that very one might be the love of their life? And yet that very one they had deceived,” has seemingly disappeared? Could it be that they had more in common with the first one they had met? ‘Illusion!

  31. Seriously so true. But unfortunately, that’s why we are human–most of the time we have our priorities mixed up and are absolutely fallible, at any time.

Lucky for us we are also given choices and thoughts so…never to late to take action! 🙂

    Great quote, so enlightenening!!

  32. I get the chills every time I read this!! Such solid truth! It would truly be an amazing world, filled with amazing people, who are whole and fulfilled. Not looking too and fro for someone or something to complete them. Though, I still believe it can be an amazing world, if not just the world around me! – Thank you for sharing your truth! Beautiful!

  33. I am belly laughing out loud! I feel the girrrrl power … no: the WOOOOMAN POWER!
PS: you needn’t answer, I’ll just become one of your Devoted Followers [and that is My Trick … if you Capitalize something, you make it more Important 🙂 ]

    1. Aww Susan, would you please stop putting me on a pedestal? We are all friends here. No one’s more superior than the other. 🙂

I’m following back. Thank you for the friendship. See you around darling! Hugs X

  34. Great point! It is important to realize that the physical body ages with time – which has an adverse impact on sexual desire and attraction. Spiritual attraction is much stronger, as it outlasts the body.

  35. Someone once said, “It is interesting when people will only believe what you say when you quote someone else’s words, as if your credibility is tied to your their authority . Somehow, your word is never credible enough on its own. It speaks of a disbelieving people living in days where truth, and truth-speaking, is scarce. ” That “someone” is me. ☺ An interesting practice of quoting yourself, young lady! More commendable is your desire to speak the truth from your heart. That is what this generation needs.

  36. So true! Honestly at this point in my life, the physical passion fades, but the passion for writing, reading, and knowledge keeps growing. The problem is my lack of time. Funny how, when I was younger, the physical passion took over, consumed my time, yet I had so much. Now I want the knowledge and time to express myself and wish I could get back all that time I let slip by! Thank you for your words!

  37. But would they appreciate it? It is only when we truly ‘see’ within ourselves, because of those hard journey’s, that the love that we always seek is discovered 😀
And speaking from your heart is an important part of that journey, thank you for sharing your love 😀

  38. Making love
    Being in love
    loving oneself
There is such a balance that takes place
    That only experience
    Can teach
    Great quote
    Powerful
You dug deep for that one
    As always Sheldon

  39. This is why writing and reading is a great way to connect! All honesty, all you…sass and all is what keeps people coming back! I’m glad our paths crossed and I’m sure I will enjoy many more posts. Good call on the quotation marks, I wouldn’t have taken it seriously otherwise 😋

  40. I want to congratulate you for being enough courageous to speak out your mind. It is something that is not so common. Your thoughts on love and spirituality are inspiring.

  41. It’s freeing to speak wild truths isn’t it? I think as women we get silenced in so many ways. Speaking wild truths is the surest way to finding our authentic voices. I think. Yes. I do think. 😉

  42. “If people actually made love to the mind and soul with the same flaming passion as they made to the physical body, we would have long had an illuminated generation of spiritually, morally and intellectually elevated species.”

    -The Little Mermaid, MMXVI

Extremely well said TLM. May you find time for more observations of like thought.
    In agreement,
    denny

  43. Good for you misses! Inspiring, as I’m still lacking in confidently writing my thoughts 😬 thank u ✌🏽❤️✨

      1. Hi mermaid, are you angry with my request? I was just excited. You didn’t say anything. I take ur silence to mean anger ! Please I am sorry!!!

  44. Sounds like me starting back on blogging. Just start writing , like writing in a regular journal. I still have wild, crazy, random thoughts go through my head all day and night (day-dreamer & night-thinker). Guess I can start putting on my blog too instead of regular paper. Thanks for the post 😊😊😊

      1. Thank you, and I have. It’s very soothing and fun to do now. Still have days that have been hectic so I forget to post, but I get back on track 😊😊😊

          1. Awww, thank you. I will most definitely 😊😊😊 and you do the same oh beautiful one 😊😊😊😊

      2. Thanks to you, I’m still blogging and it’s getting better than ever. Thank you so for this comment 😘😊😘

  45. Good luck for your writings and you will surely be successful but I still wonder why have you used word spirituality here ? besides my friend ,there is little something in these lines which is ambiguous – “If people actually made love to the mind and soul with the same flaming passion…”– Love to mind ??…. No dear…in fact ,the very first step of a journey called spirituality is to sincerely believe that you are neither your body nor your mind, you are just a peace loving soul.

  46. Oh boy am I late to the party with this post, but I was so unbelievably rocked by your quote. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

  47. …implacablemente fáctico como utópico pues los seres perfectos no existirán por lo menos en este contexto…
.. implacably factual as utopian because perfect beings will not exist at least in this context …☺
