Thought For The Day

“You can buy designer clothing but not elegance. You can shop for pricey make-up but not for beauty. You can purchase an upmarket house but not a home. You can buy expensive education but not manners. You can be a person with deep pockets but with just a shallow existence.”

    1. Hi there, how are you doing?

Well that’s because I have been a little discourteous towards my amazing WordPress family lately owing to some personal commitments. I apologize. I’m back now and I can’t wait to catch up with you all darlings! Whoop!

      Sending you much love X

      1. Doing good, thanks. Hope you’re in pink of health. Few of my favourite bloggers vanished altogether at once so was missing those magical words in form of beautiful poems, you being one of them. Glad to have you back at wordpress. Awaiting the lovely rhymes soon. Take care.

      1. Sure, chasing a dream can result in the acquisition of wealth. I’m sure we could compile a long list to support this opinion. However, I’ve come to know many wealthy people, who never intended to be wealthy. They were passionate about something – art, business, justice, etc. – and they chased their passion. Money resulted, but it was not their motivating factor…For this reason, we could create an equally long list of people who accrued wealth/fame posthumously. — I related to your post because it spoke to the way in which money/wealth can cloud our vision. You reminded me a pursuit of passion can be equally rewarding … Thanks again, the post was really good!

  1. Material Progress Alone Cannot Bring Satisfaction

Jesus said, ‘Man cannot live by bread alone’. Here, bread means material progress. Man has two aspects to his personality – physical and spiritual. No matter how much progress one achieves at the material level, one continues to experience dissatisfaction. This is because, despite the material progress, one continues to lead a life of spiritual starvation. Man must feed both sides of his personality in order to achieve satisfaction.

  2. It’s always the person inside which counts in life. Not the outer trappings of existence. It is always good to remain true to yourself. You will then have no regrets. Great post.

          1. Your comment touches me deeply. I am glad my writing speaks to you as well. I write from the heart and hope, in this manner, to speak to others. Thank you. Much appreciated. 🙂

  3. I’m so glad you’re back! I certainly have missed your posts! Your “Thought For The Day” should be in everyone’s thoughts each and every day.

Substance really is more important than style. Without elegance, designer clothes are so threadbare they could result in indecent exposure, facial make-up cannot cover up cold hearts / shabby souls and PHDs do not ensure everyone has learned the social graces. As for paper-thin currency, even if stacked sky high, it could never fill in the bottomless pit of a shallow existence.

PS ~ Thanks for all the “Likes” on my blogs.

        1. Of course I will, Andrew. Puerto Rico is absolutely beautiful. You must surely be a proud islander. The white sandy beaches are pretty much like what we enjoy in Mauritius. Heard of my little Paradise before?

  4. Amazing! Really makes me think about times when I have put myself down. I have a Yorkshire accent and sometimes when I go to uni open days I feel like I stand out. I don’t speak posh and I feel my accent makes me seem uneducated.
I’m new to the blog sphere and I’d really appreciate it if you let me know your thoughts xx

    1. Aww, The Girl With Purple Dockers, first of all, please do not underestimate yourself. I am a non-native English speaker; so when I speak or write English, I know it is British English. I’m not conversant with the distinct accents that exist in England- be it the Queen’s English or the Yorkshire dialect.

I believe speaking with a posh accent isn’t just about the sounds you use. Besides paying particular attention to your pronunciation, it is equally important to use proper grammar and vocabulary. You may listen to the BBC, read literary masterpieces in the English language, blog or simply hang out with those who speak the RP English. But above all this, I want you to be authentic, expressive and confident. Learning is a lifelong process. Be patient. You’ll master it a lot sooner than you thought you would.

Happy blogging and see you around, beautiful one! X

  5. I am wordless with your thought process it connects straight away to soul.A very well said statement..we can buy everything from market or from money but the humbleness & atticates comes within from ourselves.👌👌👌

  6. All you need, we need is to be ourselves….. the real self. We are one and once this thought penetrates deep within us, we will see a different a beautiful World around us.

          1. You are welcome from deep core of heart Little Mermaid….. Beautiful things, words, people need to be appreciated,.. It makes them more beautiful I feel.
            NAMASTE 🙏

    1. You’ve drawn the perfect analogy, Chris! And a combination of both makes a classic Jaguar, isn’t it? 🙂

On a side note, you just happened to remind me of my nickname given by some ex-colleagues-‘BMW 7 Series’! Haha!

          1. Naw… Overestimate you I could never. Or maybe I am… After all, the only thing I know about you is your sense of humor and your great way with words and your picture. And all 3 are priceless. But what do I know rite. 😉

  7. You are so right! Nowadays, money seems to be at the root of all things and people tremendously lacking in basic manners and elegance 😦

  8. I agree with all of these and how much I loved the point – however rich you may be in knowledge and education but nothing can teach you manners 😀

  9. Very good insight, you can search for beauty but the inner beauty cannot be bought. It’s better to be content with yourself instead of trying to please someone else!

  10. Hello, i read your blog occasionally and i own a similar one and i was just
curious if you get a lot of spam responses? If so how do you
prevent it, any plugin or anything you can recommend?

I get so much lately it’s driving me insane so any support is
    very much appreciated.

    1. Hi Jona, I’m sorry for the delayed response. I do get a lot of such messages. I filter them once a week to ‘unspam’ those which are unfortunately categorized as ‘spam’ by WordPress and delete the rest. I don’t use any kind of plugin whatsoever. I hope this helps.

  11. You can have Christian friends and conversation and not know the Creator. Today is a great day for Grace to enter in. Thought provoking post.
